Find the Best Home Fitness Equipment in Scottsdale

How do you find the best home fitness equipment in Scottsdale? The answer is easy for some, but for those of you who have recently made the decision to buy exercise equipment for your home may not have a clue as to where you should start! There are so many different brands, models and styles it can be next to impossible to choose what's right for you and your family. This article will provide you with information on what to expect, where to go and what to buy. Whether you're looking for a basic machine or one with the latest technology has to offer, the following information will be beneficial to you and will help you choose the exercise equipment that's right for you.

Before you begin your quest to find the best home fitness equipment in Scottsdale you should think about the things that will have an impact on the type of equipment you buy. Here are some questions that will help you get started:

- What are your fitness goals?

- Is your main goal to develop strength?

- Is it to improve your cardio vascular health?

- Are you trying to lose weight?

- Where are you going to put the equipment?

- What do you have room for in your home?

- How much do you want to spend?

- What kinds of technology and features do you need? What can you do without?

- Where are you going to do your research? Where will you buy?

Hopefully, you already have the answers to most of the questions. If you don't, having the answers will make trying to find the best home fitness equipment in Scottsdale a lot easier! For instance, if you know what your fitness goals are, you can focus on buying equipment that will help you reach them. If your goal is strength training, you might want to think about buying a multi-functional cross trainer or a home gym. However, if you don't have a lot of room in your home, it might be best to focus on dumbbells or a weight bench.

Maybe your goals are to improve your cardiovascular health or to lose weight. A treadmill, elliptical or exercise bike will help you achieve either one or both of these goals. They don't require an exorbitant amount of space and can usually be tucked away in the corner of a room. If you don't know what you'd like to spend, however, you can get carried away pretty easily! Most fitness equipment in today's industry features extra bells and whistles that can significantly increase the ticket price. Heart rate monitors, customized programming, audio players and built-in monitors for TV and DVD are just a few of the things you can choose from when you're looking at new equipment. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for - a decent piece of cardio equipment can start at 00!

The most difficult thing about shopping for home fitness equipment in Scottsdale is knowing where to go. Although large "chain stores" may offer basic home exercise equipment, you might fare better if you go to a store that specializes in only home exercise equipment. Many specialty fitness equipment dealers will work with you to choose what's right for you, your home, your goals and your budget. You can even try out the equipment before you buy it.

And remember - it doesn't end there. Once you buy a piece of exercise equipment, you have to get it to your home! Make sure the place you buy from will deliver to your home (often free of charge). Also, get specific details about warranties, product guarantees and return policies - it could save you a lot of time and money in the long run!

Question...

What home fitness equipment offers the best results?

I want to purchase a single piece of workout equipment that offers aerobic activity but will also tone muscle. I want to burn fat and calories and tone my muscles without bulking up.

I have been running on a treadmill in our apartment complex gym, and love the results. But I was wondering if something like an elliptical machine would offer the same results or better without the wear and tear on my body caused by running?

Hydraulic Piston Pumps

Question...

Do two 4" hydraulic piston have the same power as one 8" piston?

I am wondering if two 4" hydrulic pistons have the same power as one 8" inch piston? My brother says that one 8" piston is stronger than two 4's? I think it they should be about the same, although there might be a difference in the size of hydraulic pumps needed? Thanks

Answers...

Answer by Cirric
Hi. If you assume equal pressure the piston(s) with the most surface area have the most power. Solve for both areas.

Answer by theworldssmartestman
Greetings!

Your brother is correct. Diverting the energy from the source to two different destinations lessens the amount of thrust the piston is able to produce.
The power you speak of is not the piston but the pump. The piston acts as a direct reaction from the energy produced by the pump.

Good Luck

Answer by Franco
No, the power generated is proportional to the square of the diameter.

Battersea: Home To One Of London's Top Parks

One thing that surprises many visitors to London is the abundance of open, green spaces. Whether it's the sights afforded by climbing Primrose Hill or just taking a gentle stroll through Regent's Park, London's greenspace is second to none.

Perhaps the most popular natural area in London is the Battersea Park. This park has a large lake with a wide range of wildlife meaning you have more to do than just walk, relax and have space to throw a Frisbee around. Gondola Al Parco Cafe is a popular spot in Battersea Park, offering many events with music and dance taking a priority. Another highlight is the amazing children's playground. There's a lunchtime club aimed specifically at under-fives while the adventure playground is open throughout the day. There are is also the opportunity to hire a boat and row across the lake.

For the keen observer, not only will they see rowers on the lake but also many other fitness fanatics. From the perfunctory joggers to the sports teams playing and practising rugby, football and cricket, Battersea Park is home to many fitness and sports fans.

Battersea Park is also a great place to go and relax, especially in the warmer months. Wildlife lovers will appreciate the chance to see small, cute animals such as hedgehogs and squirrels while the park and its arboretum is also a spotting ground for many birds that might not be seen in many other places in London, such as Peregrine falcons, kestrels and parakeets. These birds find sanctuary in the park's wide range of trees and foliage, with estimates of there being more than 4000 trees in this park some of which are more than 200 years old. The different kinds of trees are tagged to allow visitors to learn about each type while walking round the park, a trip that will take a casual observer roughly an hour. Another thing to keep an eye out for is the sculptures of the likes of Hepworth, Kennington and Moore that are dotted around the area.

Many inhabitants of London feel lucky to have a garden of their own and a lot of those who do will have to share a tiny bit of lawn with other flats in their block. Because of this, places such as Battersea Park offer locals an opportunity to laze in the sun, to play sport and to do many other things they wouldn't otherwise be able to do in London. Many a Battersea estate agent tells of the demand for flats within walking distance of the park and across the capital letting agents tell of the same demand for a nearby green space.

Modern Online Fruit Machines: Higher Payouts Along With Bells And Whistles

Online fruit machines are the Internet version of slot machines found in casinos, and they are swiftly gaining in popularity.

The online and in-person versions of the games are played the same way, with a person choosing an amount to bet on and then pressing a spin button. The coin amount can range from a penny to ten dollars or more. The screen at which a person is playing clearly indicates what the winning symbols are, and the amounts that will be paid out are showed along with the symbols.

While they are played the same way, there are many advantages to playing the online version of fruit machines over the ones found in casinos. These include that a person can contemplate his or her own moves with online fruit machines, can win bigger payouts, can enjoy the latest online fruit machines that contain bells and whistles, and can have access to many resources on the Internet that help players hone their skills where the online version of the game is concerned. These features all make the online versions of fruit machines a lucrative and exciting alternative to their casino counterparts.

Unlike fruit machines in casinos, a person can contemplate his or her own moves with online fruit machines. The wheels of online fruit machines operate at random just like those in a casino. However, with the online version of the game, a person can still get the opportunity to gamble for a bunch of nudges and can also make the decision to hold the reels. This adds to the excitement of the game. Furthermore, with online fruit machines, there exist special bonuses that are not prevalent in the casino version of the game.

To provide an example of the bonuses as described previously, a person gets different fruit symbols after hitting the spin button while playing an online version of the fruit machine game. Small items appear underneath some or all of the fruit symbols. For sake of the example, the item of a chili pepper can be used. In order for a person to get bonuses and be led to another screen,
three chili peppers must appear underneath the fruit symbols in either a diagonal or a row. The rewards associated with these

different bonuses vary. For instance, some online fruit games allow players to gamble all of the money they have won so far for more, which is indeed an attractive prize.

Another advantage of using the online version of fruit machines is that they offer much higher payouts than those provided by casino versions of the game . As discussed, online players of fruit machine games have more control over the outcomes of their games. The better their skill levels, the more money they can earn by playing the game. In contrast, casino fruit machine games are completely operated at random, and a person cannot work on his or her skill level to achieve a bigger win. Casino players just have to be lucky to win big.

Modern online fruit machines also provide the excitement of many new features, including bells and whistles. Some online games also are based on different themes. For example, an individual can play a game that is based on the theme of a movie. A person can thus have a casino-like experience in the comfort of his or her own home.

On a final and important note, many tutorials exist on the Internet to help people play online fruit games. Those playing can thus look up information at any time that will aid them in honing their skill levels. Such a wealth of information is not available for casino players.

In conclusion, online fruit games are played in the same manner as traditional fruit slot games at casinos. However, overall, there are many advantages to playing the online version of fruit machine games over the casino version. These include that an online player has control over the outcomes of the games that he or she plays, payouts are greater, newer games contain exciting
features like bells and whistles, and many Internet tutorials are available to aid online players in honing their skills.

Eliptical Exercise Equipment

Elliptical Exercise Equipment - What is important to consider before buying

Buying elliptical exercise equipment can sometimes get confusing. Here are 3 key features to look for when buying your elliptical to keep things simple and avoid buying a lemon.

buying exercise elliptical equipments.  There are so many different brands and types of ellipticals out there - it can get confusing! How do you know which one is best for you and how do you avoid buying a lemon?

If you want quality a elliptical trainer be prepared at least  to spend 0. Why this? Because most ellipticals under this price point just aren't built to stand up over the long haul.

Example: My 0 elliptical that I bought from a department store several years back lasted 3 months - 4 if you count the last month it was used as a clothes hanger in my living room.

After 3 months it developed a loud squeaking noise that couldn't be fixed - no matter how long or hard my handyman husband worked on it.

If I'd been smart enough to spend a bit more, I'd probably still have the elliptical today. In the end it was a huge waste of money and time.

So the bottom line is this: If you're really serious about getting in shape, you deserve to invest in a piece of exercise equipment that's going to last you - so be ready to spend a bit more on your elliptical trainer.  When you think about how long your elliptical machine will serve you, the long-run savings look pretty good.

2) Who Are You Buying It From?
While there are lots of places the sell elliptical exercise equipment - both online and off, make sure they have several years of experience and a solid return policy. There will be a smooth transaction and shipping for a company which has experience in selling elliptical equipment

A solid return policy also gives you peace of mind when buying your elliptical. Giving an eliptical a trial run at the store is a no-brainer; however, you may find that although it seemed great at the store, your arms and/or hips are hurting after a week of usage.  You want to know that you can return your elliptical without a hassle.

Well reputed elliptical store provides you 30 days money return policies to prove their best practices. As always, examine closely before you make a purchase.

3) Training of the TorsoTorso
The beauty of an elliptical trainer is that it offers you a total body workout.

Whereas treadmills and recumbent bikes tend to work mainly the lower body only, ellipticals offer you a chance to burn calories and build strength using upper body arm handles. This means more calories burned in less time.

Surprisingly enough however, not all elliptical trainers offer upper body arms with their units. Make sure you choose an elliptical with upper body workout arms included if this is an option you want.

Upper body arms generally don't add to the cost of the machine; however, some of the cheaper models may exhibit some disparity between the arm and leg movements. This can result in injury or a less efficient workout.

Rule of Thumb: You should not have to lean over to use the upper body arms.

Keep these things in mind and you'll save yourself time and loads of frustration!

Question...

Exercise equipment - bike, eliptical, treadmill - need opinions please!?

I am considering a piece of equipment for my home. I've used all three at some point over the years, but it's been awhile. I can't really decide which piece to get as they all have their good and bad points. I'm looking for some extra input to help me make this decision. And if anyone has a particular brand/model to recommend, I'd love to hear that as well. I don't need anything too fancy, but I want enough features so that there is a variety... such as tension control. I would like to know distance, time spent, calories burned, etc. Don't need any of the music inputs, although I wouldn't scratch one off the list if it had that. I want something that is durable and long lasting as it will be used every day, by at least myself and probably one other person a couple of times a week. I've been leaning toward an eliptical, but I know the least about them. I'm looking for a good solid cardio workout. I'm bored with the videos and am ready for something else to keep me motivated and change things up a bit. Thanks for any input you can offer.

Answer by David
look in consumer reports for home gym recommendations. they are also online. just remember that you usually get what you pay for.

Answer by joe714
i like a recumbent bike that has programmed terrain.
that way the tension automatically adjust so that it's like you are riding uphill at times.
i like the ones at sears just as well as at the sporting goods stores.
the proform models are cheaper that the nordic track and diamondback models
sitting on the proform models is more comfortable to me.
i've used recumbent exercise bikes at the gym and it is the most fun of the cardio equipment to me and something i enjoy is something i will stick with.

Answer by Lily
I would suggest a stationary bike which is a great way to exercise conveniently and comfortably, especially in the comfort of own home. They are easy to use and a fairly good fat burning exercise.

Many stationary bikes can be folded away for easy storage compared to elliptical or treadmill.

Finding a Carlsbad Exercise Workout

Finding a Carlsbad exercise workout program that will change your life. Locate a place where you will love to go, where the people are friendly, and you never feel out of place. You have choices of where you can start your exercise program. Just keep in mind they will differ in cost and benefits that you will receive with membership.

Starting a workout program at home will be the least expensive, but will it be the best option? It's very hard to always make yourself workout when you're at home. A favorite show might be one you want to watch, or a friend may call you on the phone. Unless you can place those other things aside a home workout program will show you few results.

Gyms are another choice that will be available for your Carlsbad exercise program. The cost will be more than what you would pay for home exercise. However, you have more machines, and classes available that you will be able to take. Some gyms will offer special prices when you join them, so look into a great way to save some money.

If you join a gym you can up your exercise turnout by adding a personal trainer. Some gyms will include this as part of your membership even. The personal trainer is there to motivate you more than you can on your own. They also help set up a workout program that includes cardio, weights, and nutrition. Motivation is what a personal trainer is there to help you with, and they will push you to workout harder and longer than you may have before.

A fitness center is close to the choice of a gym, but with a bit more offered. This Carlsbad exercise program will give you personal trainers and fitness classes, but also some camps that are specialized. In order to find out what all is included in the cost of membership you need to contact some local fitness centers.

Those specialized camps from a fitness center can come in the form of a boot camp. A Carlsbad exercise program that can give you results in as little as four weeks. Some programs will be offered that last for six weeks as well. Intensity is the main key to success in your boot camp.

If you want more choices of what you can do for exercise, look into a health club. Many things are offered in this type of location. Not only fitness rooms, but normally courts you can play basketball on, tennis courts, and pools. They also have services that offer nutrition information as well as professional personal trainers on staff.

Do you need anything extra in your membership to motivate you more? There's so much to offer here that it'll be hard for you to say no. Just remember, do it for yourself and your health. Ask those questions and you should find your choice easy to make. A place where you will be happy and see great changes in your body and to your health.

Well no doubt there are such big number of weight loss programs available in market, that one could not help but getting more confused each time. I would however suggest you to stick to the basics. First make a good routine for yourself, exercise is a definite MUST. Then cut down on all your junk and impulsive eating habits. Don't starve yourself to death, eat in small portions instead. Have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables added to your diet, say No to canned or any type of processed stuff. Cut down on sugar, caffeine and alcohol as much as possible.

Check Hoodia Gordonii as weight loss supplement. It is an effective medicine, what makes it special is it is all natural. Make sure to take your doctor's word on it. And go for Hoodia Gordonii from South Africa only.

The Dangers Of Demanding Sports On Youth

The not-so-good performance by the British contingent at the Wimbledon championships may be linked to a recent study made by researchers from the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital which suggested that high-level tennis can be detrimental to the spine of young people. The team scanned the spines of 33 elite adolescent tennis players, male and female, who trained at the National Tennis Centre, the club where you can find Britain's most promising young tennis players.  Though none of the youths have reported back pain, their backs, however, told a different story.
Serious spinal abnormalities were found to afflict 28 players, a high 85%, ranging from cysts to fractures. Twenty three had an early stage of joint disease, while 13 were found to have herniated discs or desiccated, shriveled discs, a condition usually common in septuagenarians but much less prevalent in teenagers.  According to the authors of the study, tennis requires more frequent, repetitive, and rapid rotation from the lumbar spine than most other sports.  Playing it during a period of "growth spurt" is particularly detrimental.
Various studies, on the other hand, revealed that back problems don't afflict just teenage tennis players. At least 1/3 of all competitive football players will hurt their lower backs during play and may experience lower back pain, as will a third of gymnasts and 25% of serious rowers. About 40% of divers are likely to develop a spinal stress fracture, and many cyclists will experience constant, grinding back pain while riding.  Severe lower back problems were reported by another study in 6 out of 7 twirling-ribbon rhythmic gymnasts.  Topping the list of sports that can cause problems in the lower back and neck is golf with 90% injuries to professional golfers, and almost 80% missing at least one professional tournament because of back pain.
Experts believe that in order to protect and build a better back, one needs to have a solid core. "It's not just the abdominal area, as many people think," says Vijay Vad, a sports medicine specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and a back-care adviser to the PGA Tour and the professional men's tennis circuit.  Vad said that, "...to really include all of the elements that move and stabilize the spine, you have to go from your knees to your nipples. That's the core."
The core muscle system is made up of the muscles, ligaments and tendons which provide rigging for the spine. The big muscles in front of the spine, as well as those at the sides are specifically important in stabilizing the back. These are the rectus, transverse and oblique abdominals. Same with the less familiar intertransversi, interspinalis and multifidus muscles, which connect to the larger abdominal group but are usually ignored in magazine articles about washboard abs. Both muscle groups must be strong and supple in order to keep the spine stable.
The most crucial element of core health is endurance since it keeps the stabilizing muscles and connective tissues going through a long workout or game. "You have to have enough muscular endurance to be able to maintain spinal stability throughout the entire length of an activity," says Michael Higgins, the director of athletic-training education at Towson University in Maryland and the author of several prominent academic articles about back injuries in athletes. "Without endurance, what you often see is that near the end of a game, the muscles can't quite control the movement of the spine adequately anymore, " he said.  No matter what sports you're into, if your core can't keep up, your back is sure to suffer the consequence.

16 Tips for Getting Maximum Weight Loss and Fitness Results in Minimum Time

San Diego's Top Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Reveals the essential strategies for lasting weight loss and lifelong fitnessby oksanapet16 Tips for getting maximum Weight Loss and Fitness results in minimum time *Do you want to improve the quality of your life? *Do you want to look and feel better than you have in years - maybe better than you ever have before? *Do you want to protect yourself from disease and injury? And do you want to live a longer, more vital life? I'm confident that you answered “YES!” to each of those questions, just as have the hundreds of individuals I've counseled, coached, and trained in my career as a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and Health Expert. Right now I'm going to reveal to you the 16 essential strategies that have enabled my clients to achieve these important goals. These simple strategies can be immediately implemented into your lifestyle with little sacrifice on your part (okay, if not eating artery clogging fast food burgers and fries is a big thing for you, then maybe you won't look at that sacrifice as "easy," but I guarantee you it will add quality years to your life). Why believe me? Because I have been training people for 14 years. Because I've seen people fail and others succeed. Because I'm the only person in San Diego who has 15 years of solid medical training, a NSCA CPT, and I am also a Certified Master Fitness Instructor through the Prestigious Coopers Institute. Because all of my Personal Training Clients are happy and getting good results. I am giving you this information because I'm tired of seeing people getting ripped off and wasting their time and energy on the latest "Miracle" diet or device. I'm tired of seeing slick marketers make a lot of money by selling people lies that won't help them. So let's get right into it. Read on to discover... 1. How to Stay Motivated. One of the biggest problems most people have is that they work out great for a couple of weeks, then just fade away. The people who stick with it are those who have these two things in common: * They don't follow a set routine. Routines always become boring. They also set you up for repetitive stress injuries. They don't work either. Your body quickly adapts to any routine and doesn't need to change any more to keep up. * They get on an effective exercise program, so they get good results. The people who lose their motivation are the people who get frustrated because they are not getting good results. When you are getting good results, you will be so pumped that it's actually hard to quit. A good fitness instructor will help you with both of these items. 2. Don't make it so hard. Most people think of exercise as torture. They imagine that you must sweat and groan for hours every day to get in good shape. Not so, my friend! Two days per week of 30-minute low-intensity cardiovascular exercise (walking, jogging, biking, swimming); and two days per week of 30-minute light resistance training (using weights or resistance machines) is adequate in the beginning. As you become acclimated to the lifestyle shift, you can add more days and get improved results. But beware: if you try to do too much too fast, you may end up quitting altogether. If you've tried and failed doing it alone, then I suggest you get a training partner or personal trainer who will help you sustain your motivation. 3. Your exercise program needs only three things. If you skip any one of these three, your results will suffer. * Resistance Exercise. This will raise your metabolism and cause you to burn more calories all day, even when you are asleep at night. * Cardiovascular Exercise. Your heart rate during cardio exercise should be 60% to 80% of your maximum heart rate. The simple formula for calculating your 100% maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age. If the intensity of your exercise increases your heart rate beyond 80%, slow it down a bit. If your heart rate isn't at least 60%, quit loafing. Your personal trainer can supply you with a simple heart rate monitor you can wear during exercise so you always stay in your peak fat-burning range. * Proper Nutrition. A good, hard workout can burn maybe 300-500 calories in 30-45 minutes. It only takes one Big Mac to flush your entire workout down the toilet. 4. Don't waste your time working small muscles with isolated movements. If you don't enjoy doing resistance training or are pressed for time, concentrate on working the largest muscle groups with compound resistance movements. When I see overweight people doing wrist curls or lateral raises, I wonder why. It's generally just a lack of understanding of how their bodies work. Most people want to lose fat and tone and firm their bodies. The way to do that is to use resistance (weights or machines) to train the large muscle groups. Men should be concentrating on legs, chest and back. Women should concentrate more on their legs and back. The best exercises for legs are lunges or squats (your personal trainer will show you the proper form and then monitor you during the exercise) and leg press. The best chest exercise is bench press, and the best back exercise is the seated row. All of these are compound movements, which means they incorporate multiple muscle groups. 5. Always, always, always stretch.Stretching improves flexibility, blood flow, muscle recovery, low back pain and a host of other things. Additionally, stretching can prevent injury, make you sleep better and improve your performance in all sports. Always stretch, but be certain not to stretch cold muscles. You should always warm up before stretching. However, it is very important that you know how to stretch. Never bounce! Your personal trainer will show you the proper execution and timing of your stretches. 6. Don't do traditional sit-ups. Unless you are super athlete with an incredibly well-developed midsection, sit-ups can lead to a strained lower back and possibly lumbar injuries. But it gets worse. Rather than hitting your abdominal section, sit-ups can shift exercise tension to your hip flexors - which defeats the purpose. There is so much misinformation about how to strengthen, tone, and firm the midsection, it's almost frightening. It is very difficult to learn proper abdominal exercise technique by reading about it or watching it demonstrated on a video. You need to do it with supervision and get feedback about your form from a knowledgeable source. And keep in mind that you use your abdominal muscles in almost every single movement you make. Strengthening your abdominal region is the single most effective way to prevent, or recover from, low back pain. 7. Set realistic, attainable goals. You must have tangible, quantifiable, short-term, and long-term goals for your fitness program so you can gauge your progress. It's crucial to have a "baseline" before you begin, so you can measure success. Your personal trainer can give you a complete fitness analysis (you need this!) that will aid you and your trainer in developing a personalized fitness program, which addresses your particular needs. Having goals, particularly short-term goals, allows you to track your progress and keep motivated when times are tough and you don't feel like exercising. Keeping a journal of your cardio and resistance training workouts, as well as tracking what you eat is truly a fitness success secret. Just remember that your goals should be realistic and attainable. The best way for you to understand what is realistic and attainable for you is to talk to a fitness professional - not to buy into the "hype" of infomercial's, diet and fitness products that blatantly mislead. 8. Set exercise appointments with yourself.Use your day-timer to set appointments for exercise - and then stick to them. You wouldn't miss a business meeting or client appointment, would you? So don't miss your exercise appointment with yourself. Nothing is more important than your health. Nothing. Everything else will crumble around you if your health goes south. So make your exercise appointments a priority. If you find it difficult to keep these appointments, then consider hiring a personal trainer who will hold you to your commitment. When you have money invested, and someone waiting for you to show up - you are much more likely to actually show up! 9. Remember the benefits of exercise.Remember that feeling of euphoria you experienced after a particularly good work-out? You experienced that feeling because the most powerful "feel good" drug in the world - endorphins - were coursing through your veins. If there is a panacea, it's exercise. Nothing feels better than the post-work-out high you experience after exercising. Revel in that feeling. Let it wash over you and truly experience it. Etch that feeling in your brain. It will fuel your motivation on those inevitable days when you just don't feel like exercising. Being physically fit affects every single aspect of your life: you sleep better, eat better, love better, overcome stress better, work better, communicate better, and live better! 10. Exercise correctly. So much time is wasted doing, at best, unproductive exercise, or at worst, dangerous exercise. Get educated on how to exercise correctly. And the absolute best way to do that is to hire a personal trainer to develop a program for you and then teach you what to do and how to do it right. Personal training does not have to be an ongoing process. You can hire a personal trainer for whatever length of time you need to learn the ropes. It could be five sessions, or it could be fifteen sessions. It's completely up to you. But statistics prove that those who understand how to exercise correctly, get better, faster results. And that's what you want, right? Results! 11. Enjoy yourself. The most difficult thing is actually getting into your running shoes or going to the gym. But once you begin your work-out, relax and enjoy the process. Don't fight it. Make exercise your personal time. When you are exercising you can focus completely on yourself. Yes, exercising can and should be somewhat rigorous (depending on your level of fitness), but it is just that investment which makes it supremely rewarding. As with anything, if you are in the moment, you can fully appreciate the experience and truly enjoy the process. 12. Americans eat too many carbohydrates for our lifestyles.I'm not advocating the high protein, high saturated fat diet that you hear so much about (frankly, its dangerous). But I am advocating minimizing your intake of bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and, of course, all sugary drinks. We are no longer an agrarian society participating in manual labor. Most of us are fairly sedentary throughout the day and therefore do not need the high levels of carbohydrates to sustain our energy. Additionally, carbohydrates are addictive. The more donuts you eat, the more you want. The bulk of your carbohydrates should come from vegetables and fruit. And those with high water content, such as cucumbers, grapefruit, tomatoes, cantaloupe, strawberries and even vegetable soups (watch out for high sodium), will fill you up nicely. By the way, numerous studies have conclusively proven that the quarter of the population eating the most vegetables get half the cancer of the quarter eating the least! 13. Deep-fried food has no nutritional value - none!Almost every food, whether it's steak, chocolate or red wine, has some nutrients to contribute. But one thing is absolute: fried foods are garbage. Potato chips, French fries, onion rings, breaded chicken strips and all the rest of the deep-fried junk are pregnant with saturated fat and calories, and they contain almost zero nutritional value. If you're trying to lose weight and/or reduce fat, simply eliminate fried foods completely from your diet. Yikes! That stuff is scary. 14. Never, ever skip breakfast. If you want to maximize your fitness results or fat-loss efforts, you've got to eat breakfast. Even if you don't exercise at all - breakfast remains the most important meal of the day. Your breakfast should contain complete proteins and complex carbohydrates (if you're trying to lose weight, you should eat the bulk of your complex carbohydrates at breakfast and lunch and only have vegetable carbohydrates at dinner). A great breakfast is oatmeal (not the pre-packaged, pre-sweetened kind) with a little honey and banana and a protein drink. Or try scrambled egg whites with Healthy Choice turkey sausage. 15. Drink plenty of fresh, clean water.Yes, I know that you've heard this over and over again. But there's a reason for that - it's the gospel truth! The recommended amount is approximately eight glasses, or 64 ounces, of water every day. When you are exercising, you need to drink even more. Over 75% of your body is water (even bone is more than 20% water). When you don't drink enough water, and substitute diuretics like coffee, tea and caffeinated sodas, you dehydrate your body, your blood doesn't flow properly, and your digestive system doesn't operate smoothly (among other problems). Even a small deficit of water can radically affect how your body performs. Here's a good rule of thumb: if you're urine is a dark yellow and/or has a strong odor, you're not drinking enough water. Drink up! 16. Eat regularly throughout the day.Fasting or overly restrictive diets will enable you to lose weight - in the short run, because the weight you lose is primarily water weight and lean muscle mass. In the long run, it has exactly the opposite effect you want. When you restrict your diet, your body instinctively thinks it's being starved and shifts into a protective mode by storing fat. Energy expenditures are fueled by your lean muscles. Therefore your body fat remains essentially the same and you lose vital fluids and muscle instead. The less muscle you have, the slower your metabolism becomes, and the less fat you burn. Instead of eating three big meals (or worse yet, one HUGE meal) eat five or six nutritionally balanced "snack/meals" each day. This keeps your metabolic furnace stoked, so you burn more at a faster rate. I know, it's counter-intuitive, but it's true! There you have it. 16 essential strategies for an effective weight loss and fitness program that will have you looking and feeling better than you have in years - maybe ever! I realize that starting (or re-starting) a productive and effective health and fitness program is not easy. That's why I encourage you to get help. If you're sick, you go to the doctor. If you've got a tax problem, you see an accountant (or an attorney!). Have a toothache? You're off to the dentist. So why is it that so many people attempt to solve their health and fitness problems without consulting an expert? I don't know exactly, but I encourage you to make the investment in yourself - in your quality of life - by hiring a certified personal fitness trainer to educate you and help you get started (because the hardest part is just getting started and sustaining your motivation until fitness becomes habitual). Once you develop the habit, which can take as little as thirty days, your whole life will change for the better. If I can be of any assistance to you, please don't hesitate to call me. I'm happy to speak with you and give you my recommendations without any sales pressure (I hate it when people try to "sell" me, so I wouldn't try that on you). Please E-mail me to obtain any additional information you may need. Thank you. Best in Health,Rivak E. Hoffmanhttp://www.somagenesis.com

About the AuthorExperience: 12 years and counting.

I’m not just your average trainer. Some trainers don’t look like trainers. Many lack the medical aptitude and experience to design and implement a safe and effective exercise program, and that’s a bad sign from the start. Some train their clients exactly as they train themselves. Many hurt their clients and send them back to their sedentary lifestyles.

Myself, I think “outside the box” and bring life to others. I don’t duplicate fitness programs and my training programs are constructive, not destructive. Each and every client I train has a unique experience. With the overwhelming, conflicting advertising and marketing campaigns in the health and fitness industry, the average consumer becomes confused and disoriented in their eating habits and exercise programs. I find it a personal challenge and responsibility to weed out the fact from the fiction. A hypothesis is only a guess until proven with real statistically proven hardcore research with large sampling. Solid facts also come from anecdotal experience and documented evidence over time.

Moreover, I have trained my mind and body for sports competition since age 13. I have learned how to incorporate my vast levels of knowledge in nutrition, resistance training, and sports-specific training techniques towards further achieving new goals and winning races.

18 years tenure as a board certified medical professional in General Medicine and Neuro-Ophthalmology gives me the expertise to analyze and evaluate metabolic and systemic medical factors that often complicate weight loss, weight gain, and metabolic problems. These factors seriously complicate the ability to lose weight, and most trainers do not have the knowledge to solve these dilemmas.

With my diverse background in both medicine and as a personal trainer, I can create a healthy, strong, high performance body, which will look awesome and perform to higher levels. My unique style as a fitness instructor coupled with my medical knowledge allows me to methodically design a safe, effective, and productive exercise program to suit your goals.

Question...

Rowing machine and weight loss?

I really want to change my life style and eating habits. I don't eat bad food, I guess I just eat more than I need to.

I bought a treadmill a few weeks ago and I have been losing weight slowly together with counting calories and eating healthy food, healthy portions etc.

I am considering getting a rowing machine mainly for my arms and upper body strength, will it work? I want my arms to be well toned and I'm hoping it will help me lose more weight.
What are the benefits of using the rowing machine? am I right?
I also use dumb bells 2 - 3 times a week and I use the treadmill daily for at least an hour.

The History Of Slot Machines

Slot machines or fruit machines, as they are known in England, have been around for over one hundred years.  This is because of the excitement that they bring to the player.  With each individual pull or game, there is a chance of hitting the life changing jackpot.  The first slot machine was the liberty bell which was invented by Charles fey a German immigrant who worked as a mechanic in San Francisco in 1899.  All slot machines both at land based and online casinos have descended in some way from the original liberty bell machine.

The Liberty Bell slot machine had three spinning reels. Diamond, spade, and heart symbols were painted around each reel, plus the image of a cracked Liberty Bell. A spin resulting in three Liberty Bells in a row gave the biggest payoff, a grand total of fifty cents or ten nickels.  Calculating odds in those days was easy.  3 reels with 10 potential stops give the following odds:  10 X 10 X 10 = 1000 combinations.  Only 1 of those combinations yielded the big jackpot.

In 1902, Slot machines were banned in many states.  Charles Fey then had to get creative.  He changed the symbols on his machines and started offering candy, drinks, and gum as prizes.  The owners of the machines that were already out redecorated the wheels with pictures of the gum and fruit instead of the card suits.  Cherries have remained a constant on slot machines even today, and the sticks of gum eventually changed into the bars that you still see on a lot of common slot machines.

Slot machines were not really popular until the 1970’s in casinos.  The older machines were limiting, because the biggest reels had only 25 different stops, which gave 15,624 to 1 chance of hitting a jackpot.  The jackpot had to pay out less than that in order for the casinos to make enough profit for the slot machines to warrant that kind of floor space.

Then the pinball machine company Rally, invented a new slot machine that had both electronic AND mechanical parts.  The newer machines also allowed for bigger bets and larger hoppers which could hold larger payouts.  This made slot machines more profitable.

The random number generator became popular in the 1980’s and everything changed.  The random number generator is basically a mini computer that simulates the sinning reels from a computer program.  This changed the entire face of casinos.  The reels could be much larger than the actual reels, since they were powered by a computer program instead of a mechanism.  The spin arms became unnecessary, because the spin button activated the random number generator program and the machines paid out a preset percentage.

The new technology has made it possible for the machine manufactures to produce virtually a unlimited number of attractive and entertaining slot machine games.  Slot machines now take up over 80% of many casinos’ floor space.  It’s eye candy of the highest order, and gamblers gobble it up as if it were popcorn.

Question...

Setting a picture box to change pictures with a timer in Visual Basic?

My assignment is to make a slot machine, I have done everything except make the pictures "spin" I wanted to do something like randomly show pictures in a picture box but I am unsure about how to set it up. I have 10 pictures in my resources and 15 picture boxes. I wanted to set the time so when you pushed the spin button the first row would move fast and the second row a little slower and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

*I am still editing this post...

First, find the function that generates a random number. You will be using it to generate a number UP TO the number of images in your resource.

Add a timer and set the timer duration to about 200 at first. Then, slowly lower it about 10 at a time to find a speed you like.

*This is just a rough idea what it might look like...

----------------------------
Dim Delayer As Long=1

Sub Timer1 Tick

If Delayer >0 Then PictureBox1.Picture=Resource( RandomNumber )

If Delayer >1 Then PictureBox2.Picture=Resource( RandomNumber )

If Delayer >2 Then PictureBox3.Picture=Resource( RandomNumber )

If Delayer >15 Then
Delayer=1
Else
Delayer+=1
End If

End Sub

------------------

The delayer adds one in each tick of the timer. Each picture box changed only after the delayer number reaches a point, causing the delay. For example, since the first picture triggers so long as the delayer number is > 0, it will change every time.

If you want truly different spin speeds, use a different timer for each picture box. You can create timers in code, or just drop the controls on the form.

Ahh, im tired with a crying infant at 5 AM, so my thinking process is not that clear.

Including the main machine frame, shaking table, hopper, model boxes and punch down and die and other components. Check the mechanical installation should be carefully whether the bumps during transport, damaged, lost or missing pieces of the relative position change. The main machine should be installed pre-cast foundation in place to install, configure, vibration isolation pads, locking bolt.

Find a Gym

Getting Over Your Fear of the Gym

Intimidated by the gym because of all the strange equipment, machines, silent rules and huge mean-looking guys? You are not alone. There are plenty of other people who avoid the gym on a daily basis just because they don't feel comfortable going. One of the main reasons is due to intimidation. If you already don't feel comfortable with your body, how are you going to feel when you are surrounded by people who work out all the time?

What a lame excuse for not getting exercise. There is no reason for you to avoid getting a good workout because you are embarrassed to go to the gym! Keep in mind that everybody has been in the same spot as you. Nobody was born with a perfect body. The people that go to the gym everyday had to start somewhere, just like you! Here are a few tips that will help you get over your fear of going to the gym:

If you feel like you are way too out of shape and are simply too embarrassed to go to the gym at all, try exercising outside of the gym. You don't need a gym to go running or biking! If you are the really self-conscious type, go running at night. There are fewer people out to see you and it is harder to see what you look like. Just make sure to wear something reflective and have a good light. If you want to build some muscle, start doing some push-ups, squats, sit-ups, dips, lunges, etc at home every day. Go grab some exercise DVDs at your library or movie store for some good ideas. Once you feel more comfortable with your body image, it will be a lot easier to get back into the gym.
Bring the gym to your home. Look on Craigslist (or your local classifieds) for some great deals on used exercise equipment. You will be shocked to see some of the great deals you can get on a piece of equipment that was hardly used. I bought a great weight set for about 0 that had everything I needed. It wasn't perfect, but it has lasted four years in the backyard and still works like new! Getting your own equipment can even have some advantages over the gym. You avoid the commute, the parking, the membership, etc. You might be more motivated to exercise if you know your equipment is in the basement rather than across town.
Select a gym that is appropriate for you. Choose a gym that is open when you want to go, has the equipment and classes that you need and is located close enough to your home so that it isn't too much effort to go. Also, there are probably more types of gyms than you think. Most people picture a gym as a place with a bunch of weight sets and gym rats, but there are some which are far from that. Have you ever heard of the chain called "Curves"? (There is also one for men called "Cuts"). This gym is very different from your typical weight room. There are no mirrors, no huge guys flexing, and no weights to adjust. Just a bunch of stations and a chime every 30-40 seconds to tell you to change stations. These facilities are designed to help the average out-of-shape mom, dad, or granny get back into a healthy exercise routine.
Avoid peak hours. Try going at odd-ball times when nobody else is there. These hours vary from gym to gym, so call a few places and just ask. The attendant will just assume that you are trying to get a better workout and will tell you when the slowest times are. Unless you are speaking to a brand-new employee, any gym attendant will know what the slowest times are on their shift. At my gym in college, the morning was the slowest time. If you went past 6PM, you usually had to wait in line. In some other gyms I have been to, it is a ghost town after 8PM. Go out of the way to avoid peak hours until you become more comfortable. You will find that the gym is a lot more enjoyable when you aren't waiting around for equipment. Even though I am rather comfortable with the gym, I still avoid peak hours because I just prefer less of a crowd.
Don't compare your body to other people at the gym. This is much easier said than done, but is also very important. If you want to feel good about your body by comparing yourself to others, go to McDonalds. While at the gym, simply stay focused on your own personal improvement and goals. It is really easy to find yourself comparing your body to someone else's. I would often look at the huge guys at the gym and think that my gains are nothing compared to theirs. I realized that their level is irrelevant to my own personal development, and thinking about it would only slow me down. Remember not to be intimidated by the members who look like they far beyond your wildest dreams; at one point, they were in the same place as you - a newbie to the gym! Personally, every time I see newbie just starting out in the gym, I get excited for them. I know that I was once in their shoes and if they keep at it, they will be very satisfied with the results.
Don't be afraid to try new machines! Some machines look complicated, but don't let that stop you from utilizing them. You can usually figure them out by looking at the diagram. If there is no diagram, don't be afraid to ask for help. I would recommend to either sit on the machine looking confused until someone offers to help you, or better yet, ask the gym attendant. Actually, just go ahead and ask the gym attendant to show you how to use the machine properly. It's their job and they will be happy to have someone to help. If you are just too embarrassed to ask, go online and read a tutorial about how to use the equipment. Just remember that nobody was "born" knowing how to work every machine in the gym. With a little research, you might now how to use the machines more properly than anyone else in the gym.
Always keep safety in mind. Don't lift weights that are too heavy for you. If you don't know how much you can lift, always try to make a conservative guess: don't overestimate. Start low and work your way up. Also, make sure you aren't dropping or slamming weights down unnecessarily. Not only is this annoying, can cause damage to the weight room and the weights, but is also unsafe. When I first started weight lifting, a friend was standing too close to me and I accidentally dropped a 40lb dumbbell on his toe. Needless to say, I always make sure to put my weights down slowly. You wouldn't want to hurt yourself, someone else or get kicked out of the gym.
Keep the gym clean and organized. Always put your weights back where they belong so that people aren't tripping over them or having to search around to find them. Don't leave your personal belongings laying around the gym; put them in a locker or their proper place. Put trash in the trash, etc.
Be courteous and enjoy yourself. If someone asks "how many sets do you have left", let them know. If it is a lot, offer to let them "work in" with you (take turn doing sets). If someone is doing a bench press without a spotter, offer to spot them. Don't hog machines and always be sure to wear deodorant. Do an online search for "gym etiquette" and familiarize yourself with all the rules. If you know what to expect and how to behave, you should feel a lot more confident going into the gym.

Always keep in mind that you have to start somewhere. Nobody was born with a perfect body, and nobody was born a master of the gym. Follow these rules to make the transition easy on yourself. Once you get into the gym a few times, you will feel a lot more comfortable going on a regular basis. Starting is the hardest part, because it is a lot easier to keep it going once you get started. Once you are locked into a good routine, you will feel uncomfortable not going! How is that for a change?

Learn to Row

3 MUST Read Pointers For Learning The Drums

So you’re hoping to learn how to play the drums. Maybe you’ve already started taking lessons or at the very least, bought a starter drum set and are pounding away on the snare. Well, at whatever point you are at, this article is going to share 3 killer tips for learning how to play the drums that I guarantee you’re going to love.

To start, and this is one of my favorites, crank up the old MP3 player and get some really great beats going. Emerson, Lake and Palmer is a good start. Ever try playing “Karn Evil 9?” That’ll get the blood pumping. Point is, the best way to love learning the drums is to play to songs that you’ve grown up loving. And the beauty is, by playing to your favorites, you’ve got a whole band backing you. You don’t have to bore yourself through drills of pounding away in silence.

Another great tip is to only play when you’re physically at your peak. Don’t sit down to play at the end of a really long day when you’ve been working or at university. The reason for this is straightforward. When you’re exhausted, your reaction time and reflexes are slower. You’re not going to be capable to play your best. Playing in this state is going to cause aggravation. Trust me, you’re going to feel like throwing your sticks in the fireplace after a while. Only train when you feel like you could play for hours slowing. Then get right into it.

Lastly, make sure your drum set is someplace where you wont be bothered. That means no cell phones, no outside doors and no screaming kids or parents. You need to have a personalized jam room where you do not have to worry about being interrupted. When that happens, the flow is shattered and you end up having to find it again. It’s very hard to get back into rhythm after you’ve been on the phone for a half hour chatting with your friends. Practice time is YOU time and nothing should distract you from that. So if you have a basement, use it. Get as far away from distractions as you can.

It's not hard at all, you just need to practice at it a little and it helps to have someone show you the basics.I'm sure there is a video on the internet that will show exactly how it is done.

Body Building Workouts

Effective Body Building Workout Plan

A body building workout should be a well-rounded program that provides an adequate amount of resistance to all areas of the body and all muscle groups.

It should contain a variety of exercises including weight training and a cardiovascular rotation as well. If you are wondering about different types of body building workouts, there is no one magic formula for everyone.

When you are trying to devise a good body building workout, you need to consider the current state of your health.

Your health can factor in your recoverability, susceptibility to injury, and your physical limitations.

If you are beginning a body building workout to get fit, you will probably have to start slow and work your way up.

Another factor in a body building workout is to consider what your personal goals are in this endeavor. Do you want to increase body mass, lose weight, or just become stronger?

Whatever goal you have will dictate what type of workout will work best to succeed.

You must have a basic knowledge of human anatomy and what muscles are located where on your body. When you know where your muscles are, you'll be better equipped to work them to their maximum capacity.

You can concentrate on the specific muscle groups and use the weights to tone and sculpt those muscles.

An effective body building workout will be four days long to begin with. A good idea is to workout on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with your rest day on Wednesday and the weekend.

Here is a good, basic body building workout that will focus on each part of the body, but not all at the same time:

* Day 1: Deltoids, Triceps

* Day 2: Back, Traps

* Day 3: OFF

* Day 4: Legs, Forearms

* Day 5: Chest, Biceps

* Day 6: OFF

* Day 7: OFF

Working out in this way will work each body group on one day only which will allow for maximum recovery time as well as maximum growth potential.

You need recovery time due to the intensity of a strong body building workout to allow your muscles to heal in between workout sessions. This is very important in any body building program.

Keep a log of the exercises you are performing and note your progress regularly. By doing this, you'll know where you stand as far as your strength potential, and you can make changes as needed to realize your personal goal.

Body building workouts vary from person to person, but they all contain basic components that can help all body builders grow their muscles and tone their bodies.

When putting together your body building workout, keep your personal goals in mind and then go for it!

Question...

Do body building workouts harm the body?

Since the great majority of people never exercise like a body builder, do the hypertrophy workouts do something to the body chemistry which adversely affect the health later in life?
What happens when the massive workouts stop in older age?

If you intake artificial proteins, steroids then only it will seriously harm your body @ older age but if you built it slow and steady with natural foods and proteins then it won't harm you ahead and you must know how much weights you body can tolerate to do repetitions.. as i said if you take steroids to increase your capacity.. there you will be royally jacked.. Last year i saw at discovery that body builders are hollow men from inside due to steroids.. they get death with organ failures and non-convincing way. these body builders accept that for fame they are ready to put their lives on stake.
