Hydraulic Vane Pump

The Benefits Of Using Hydraulic Hand Pump

Hydraulic pumps are used to convert mechanical energy and motion into hydraulic fluid power. These are usually powered by gas or electricity. Hydraulic hand pump and rampump are also utilized for the same. There are mainly types of hydraulic pumps used namely vane pumps, gear pumps, and piston pumps. These are positive displacement pumps and transfer a calculated quantity of pressurized hydraulic fluid into a hydraulic system. In this process fluid progress to the component and pressure is converted into mechanical force.

Hydraulic pump design can be further classified into specific groups- radial, axial, in-line reciprocating, or axial bent-axis piston pumps. Vane pumps are either cam or sliding vane pumps. These pumps are available in variety of designs and can also be customized as per the needs. Irrespective of the design, all hydraulic pumps are to be used with fluids of definite viscosity. Changes in fluid viscosity causes altered performance and lowers the efficiency. Most pumps get damaged by any solid particles in hydraulic fluid. That's why it requires a filtration system.

Hydraulic pump is useful construction, manufacturing, and machining equipment. It improves efficiency, and overall performance of an entire system. Various materials are used in hydraulic pumps to minimize wear and provide consistent performance. The choice of the material varies according to pressures and temperatures that a hydraulic system will undergo. A number of plastics, synthetic rubbers, and steel alloys are used in the manufacturing of hydraulic pumps. High-strength alloys and polymers are used in high-pressure systems.

When choosing a pump you should consider factors like operating pressure, temperature, and frequency. For applications requiring minimal pressures less expensive and low-pressure pumps are available. There are a number of different types of hydraulic pump that you can choose as per your requirements and needs.

Question...

Does anyone know viscosity limitations of a rotary vane pump? I planning to use one for hydraulic oil. Thanks!

I saw a drum pump, Tuthill Fill-Rite FR 300 series and wanted to know if this can be use to pump hydraulic oil or used oil. If it can, does anyone know its viscosity limation for it? Since I remember rotary vane pumps are used for low viscosity fluids such as diesel or gasoline.

Have anyone tried to use a rotary vane pump such as Fill-rite in pumping hydraulic oil or used oil?

Thanks!

Your best option to find out if your pump will pump hydraulic oil is to contact the manufacturer and see what your pump is designed to pump. I'm not sure this forum is the best place to get an answer to your question.
